A NEW episode of Panorama will shed light on issues affecting a local delivery office.

For months now, residents in Cheshire have been experiencing delays receiving Royal Mail post.

Among them is Jasmine Moulton, who lives four miles from the Winsford delivery office.

She features in a new episode of the public affairs programme which airs tonight.

Jasmine’s children have a series of complex medical conditions, with five-year-old Harper suffering from skin allergies and three-year-old Joshua struggling with breathing and swallowing.

The family receives information about their appointments from NHS trusts via post, or at least they should.

In recent months these letters have either been late or haven’t arrived at all.

In fact, in January this year, Jasmine received a call from the hospital to say that not only had both children missed appointments, but that Joshua had missed a surgery.

"And I was like, 'pardon?' And I was in a bit of shock. I explained that we hadn't had any post come through. She sounded shocked," Jasmine told the BBC reporter Zoe Conway.

"It stresses me out every day because I just think, how many other appointments have we missed? And just not knowing when we're going to be able to move on. And seeing him suffering."

Royal Mail said it is 'not acceptable' that the NHS letters didn't arrive and apologised to the family.

The company's director of corporate affairs, Jenny Hall, told the BBC: "I've got young children myself and I know that must have been hugely stressful."

It is not just locally that Royal Mail has been struggling.

At the end of last year, regulator Ofcom said that just 74 per cent of first-class post was delivered on time, fining Royal Mail £5.6 million for failing to meet its targets.

These issues will be explored further in the Panorama episode, Royal Mail: Where’s My Post?, airing on BBC One on Monday (February 26) at 8pm.

It will be available on BBC iPlayer after.
