Canon cooks up a new idea to celebrate creativity

A CREWE clergyman is employing his skills in the kitchen to give churchgoers a creative feast this weekend.
Canon Bill Baker, vicar at St Andrew's Church on Bedford St is opening his Canon’s Café in a marquee on the west lawn of the church this weekend from today to Sunday.
The event is part of a weekend celebrating creativity and Bill will be cooking up light lunches from 12noon to 2pm each day.
Some years ago, to encourage friendship in the community, Father Bill and the Friday Fayre team started to serve morning coffees and lunches on Fridays in the church hall.
Now the Canon’s Cafe will bring the vicar’s creative skills to a wider audience and in a festival devoted to creativity, food will be an important part of the experience.
Visitors to Creativity in Creation can also take in a display in the church of more than 100 paintings, along with crafts produced by local residents.
And for youngsters there will be craft activities and magical entertainer Neil Martin on the Sunday afternoon.
There will also be an organ concert by the international recitalist Professor Ian Tracey on Saturday evening at 7.30pm.
The church welcomes Graham Ecclestone and the Wistaston singers tonight at 7.30pm.
