Everyone’s a winner at fire station sports day

YOUNGSTERS tested their athletic abilities at Crewe fire station’s annual sports day on Saturday.

Events included short, middle and long distance running races, long jump, high jump, a beat the goalie competition and tug-of-war.

Certificates were awarded to all competitors and trophies went to the overall winners in each age group.

Crewe and Nantwich Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Brian Silvester and Ms Sheila Davies presented glass trophies to the event host, Cllr Ray Stafford and athletics coach Malcolm Bowyer to mark 20 years of the community sports days.

The overall winners were: Under 5 years winner, Harry Bebbington; 6 years – 9 years winner, Cameron Smith; 10 years and over winner, Jack Evans; Cheshire Academy winner, Bradley Evanson.
