College achieves 99 per cent pass rate

STUDENTS at South Cheshire College are celebrating another outstanding set of A Level results .

One of the top learning institutions in the country, the Dane Bank Avenue campus announced an overall pass rate of 99 per cent with some stunning success stories.

Out of 917 entries, 26 gained three or four straight A’s while in total 199 achieved A’s and 50% picked up A’s and B’s.

University now beckons for many in a few weeks time.

Candice Greatbanks, Sam Tusk, Simon Cattell, Magdalina Dulguerova, Claire Johnston and Andrew Down are all off to either Oxford or Cambridge.

Three students Rosie Twambley achieved an A grade in Art and Design (Photography), Candice Greatbanks was recognised for her A in General Studies and James Roberts scored one of the top A’s in English Language.

Former Ruskin pupil Candice, 18, was thrilled with her five A’s and top mark.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic,” she said.

“I’ve worked hard but the whole college experience has been worthwhile “To gain one of the top marks in the country for General Studies has topped it all off.”

Star student Greg Jones can’t wait to start his degree at the London School of Economics.

“I knew what grades I needed to get to university but to achieve them is like a dream come true,” he said “I want to go on to a career in the financial markets or in investment banking so the subjects I’ve studied at A Level have helped me edge a step closer to that.”

Principal, Dr David Collins CBE praised staff and students.

“These results follow on from another excellent Ofsted inspection earlier this year and highlights the excellent teaching and learning that takes place here year after year,” he concluded.
