CREWE will be playing host to more than 150 Scout and Guide cast members next month as the gang show comes to town.

Several gang show teams from across the UK will join Crewe’s own at the Dane Bank Theatre at 8.30pm on Saturday September 6.

They will take part in a challenge known as ‘show in a day’, organised by the North West association of Gang Shows.

As the title suggests, the event will see a theatre show produced, rehearsed and performed to a public audience in a single day.

In true scouting tradition members have to be prepared for anything until the curtain closes at 10pm.

This year the show’s boundaries are being pushed to the max, with animation and special effects being projected on to the stage and an array of spectacular lighting design.

Halesowen Scout Band will also be performing a half hour musical band display by the theatre entrance for the audience to enjoy before the curtain goes up.

Director Gavin Jones said: “This year’s production is very special, as we are trying new effects, ideas, and pushing the boundaries further, which we have never done before.

“But most importantly it’s about everyone having a great enjoyable time, and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing every adult and child in the cast on that stage, smiling with joy and excitement, as the audience applaud and cheer.

“It is a whole team event whether you’re in the cast, the production team, or helping out behind the scenes, we all play an important part in the show’s successful achievement.

“There is no one star in Show in a Day, everyone involved is truly a star.”

The performance starts at 7.15 pm, and tickets are available from the Dane Bank Theatre box office on 01270 654677 or via the show’s telephone ticket hotline on 07531 223495.
