CREWE and Nantwich MP Edward Timpson will take part in his fifth London Marathon on April 26.

All of the money raised by his efforts in the race will go the disabled children’s charity Wooden Spoon.

The charity works by granting funds to local groups that seek to enhance the lives of disabled children and young adults through physical or educational activities.

The money will go towards disabled children's groups in Crewe and Nantwich.

Mr Timpson has recently written to a range of groups and asked them to contact to Wooden Spoon to see whether they are eligible for a grant.

He said: "I look forward to running my fifth London Marathon for what is a very worthwhile cause.

"I have run for various charities that help disadvantaged children, including the NSPCC, Childline and Save the Family.

“My lifelong involvement with children in care is the inspiration behind my support for the great work done by Wooden Spoon, particularly in the Crewe and Nantwich area.

“I have already started my training and can’t wait for April 26 to come around.”

Anyone who would like to sponsor Mr Timpson should visit his office at 30 Victoria Street in Crewe. Donations can only be accepted by cheques made payable to Wooden Spoon.
