ACCLAIMED author Jasper Fforde gave an engrossing talk about his work last week at Cheshire MMU’s Alsager Campus.
Jasper is the author of six international bestsellers, including The Eyre Affair, Lost in a Good Book and First Among Sequels.
His comic novels feature the detective Thursday Week and characters from classic literature as well as nursery rhymes.
He has been described as a cross between Raymond Chandler and Douglas Adams.
The audience was organised by members MMU Cheshire’s creative writing group.
The university’s Robert Graham said, ‘I was particularly struck by the length of Jasper’s working day - nine hours was the norm.
“I think anyone teaching or studying Creative Writing will to be challenged by this.’
The event was part of MMU Cheshire’s ongoing series of author events. Previous guests include the poet John Hegley, Joanne Harris, author of Chocolat, and Willy Russell, best known for Educating Rita and Blood Brothers.
