Volume Festival Hits The Right Notes

CREWE’S Volume Festival proved a huge hit over the Bank Holiday weekend as music fans packed into the town’s pubs and clubs to enjoy the sounds.

The festival started on Thursday evening last week and continued through to the Monday night, featuring more than 70 bands and artists across eight different venues.

Highlights included all-girl band Ipso Facto, Sweden’s Sad Day For Puppets, The Old Romantic Killer Band from Leeds and former Seahorses frontman Chris Helme.

There were also sets from upcoming bands To The Bones, Alvarez Kings, Smudge, The Fears and Gundogs.

The festival was also a real showcase for local talent with stand-out performances from The Troops Of Mafeking, Sumo Kings, Sgt Wolfbanger and Bleached Wail amongst many others.

A Volume spokesman said: “It was fantastic to see so many people coming out to support live music.

“We had the weather on our side and everyone seemed to be in the festival spirit.

“It was great to see that local bands like Bleached Wail and Sgt Wolfbanger were more than capable of holding their own against the main headlining acts.

“I think that now we have cemented the event in the town’s calendar as an annual festival and I am sure that next year we’ll be bringing some bigger names to the event.

“I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped out over the weekend, especially our main sponsors Relay who really did the event proud.”
