STAFF at Crewe’s Market Centre set the pace last week as they took part in charity treks across the region.
Melanie Brunsdon, marketing assistant at the centre, and staff from the centre’s Argos Extra, Superdrug, Clinton Cards, Game and The Works stores raised a combined total of £1,500.
The Works manager Cheryl Ho and Clinton Card’s Jo Lewis completed the challenging 13-mile Midnight Walk for St Luke’s Hospice on June 20.
Cheryl said: “The atmosphere was amazing and we were motivated by the donations and support from our colleagues and customers.”
Becky Drury and Jane Moreton from the GAME store took part in the Cancer Research Race for Life at Trentham Gardens and were joined by Superdrug’s Sarah Clay and the Market Centre’s Melanie Brunsdon.
Jane said: "My granddad has prostate cancer so I ran it for him. He has just been told he's got to have a blood transfusion.”
Derrick Roberts, of Argos Extra completed the 10K Great Manchester Run in just 48 minutes.
He said: “I go running regularly, but I thought that the Manchester 10K would be a real challenge, as well as a great way of raising funds our stores charity the British Heart Foundation.”
