A GROUP of daredevils will be dropping from the sky above Crewe next month to launch Wychwood’s first ever charity family fun day.
The Ravens Paratroop Regiment Display Team will perform a spectacular skydive from 7,000ft to open the event, which takes place at Wychwood Park on Saturday August 22 from noon.
Money raised at the event will go to local charity Caudwell Children and the Variety Club.
Ray Armstrong, who is a former team leader of the Red Devils Parachute Display Team and has taken part in more than 6,000 jumps, will lead the parachute team. He will be joined by identical twins Sarah and Liz Fletcher and Joey Willoughby, a Falklands war veteran and former Red Devil with some 2,500 jumps to his name.
Iain Gray, general manager of Wychwood Park, will also be joining the skydivers for their opening jump and taking part in the skydive.
He said: “We are very excited about hosting Wychwood’s first family fun day and supporting two dedicated and respected charities, hopefully making a valuable contribution to their worthwhile cause in changing children’s lives.
"We aim to raise over £10,000 of donations to be split between the two charities and hope that the local community will give us their full support in achieving this aim and come down and join us for a great day ”
Following the extravagant opening, there will be more than 20 activities including gladiator jousting, rodeo bull, coconut shy and duck shoot.
A barbecue, snacks and refreshments will also be on offer.
A Mr And Mrs style game show will also take place where couples have the chance to win a wedding at the Wychwood Park Hotel.
Caudwell Children's Trudi Beswick said: “We are very privileged to be chosen as a beneficiary for the first ever family fun day at Wychwood Park.
"The organisers have really pulled out all the stops to make sure everyone attending the event will have a fantastic day.
"Whilst having fun they will be raising vital funds for Caudwell Children providing life changing donations to sick and disabled youngsters."
Entrance to the event is £10 for adults and £5 for children under ten years old.
