TV GLADIATORS Atlas and Siren joined Crewe residents at the weekend for the opening of a new fitness centre in town.

The Stars of the Sky 1 series were guests of honour at the public launch of Shavington Leisure Centre’s Everybody Interactive facility on Saturday.

The £400,000 facility offers the latest equipment including a vertical climbing wall, multiplayer dance mat systems and balance boards.

The equipment, which is suitable for all ages and abilities, has been designed to motivate people to get active and is particularly aimed at those who may not enjoy using traditional gym equipment.

On Saturday people were offered the chance to test out the facility for free alongside the Gladiator duo.

Visitors were invited to compete with the super-fit pair, with prizes including a BMX, free membership, T-shirts and hoodies on offer.

The Cheshire East Council-run leisure centre has also benefited from the installation of a new lift, renovation of the reception area and improvements to existing fitness suite including a new free weights area and a Life-Fitness Circuit Studio.

Councillor Andrew Knowles said: “This groundbreaking new facility – the first of its kind in Cheshire East - offers an energetic and exciting alternative to the traditional gym and makes exercise family friendly and fun.

“We hope it will appeal to people who may not currently engage in physical activity and also those who want a change from their usual exercise regime.

“The facility represents a significant investment by Cheshire East Council and underlines our commitment to supporting people to improve their health and overall wellbeing.”
