YOUNGSTERS across South Cheshire are being invited to take part in a sponsored walk in aid of a Nantwich charity.

The Wingate Special Children’s Trust based in Wrenbury is hosting its Wingate Walk on April 24 this year in the gardens of Cholmondeley Castle.

The event, which started in 2008, has managed to raise in excess of £9,000 over two years for the cause, which offers residential holiday accommodation to more than 1,000 disabled children and their carers each year.

Held in conjunction with the ‘golden mile’ children can walk or run the 4km course, set around the picturesque grounds and work towards their award.

The walk is open to all children aged 13 and below. Schools and other organisations are also welcome to sign up.

On the day, each child entering will receive an event t-shirt, a medal and certificate of completion along with a healthy snack and drink.

Hannah said “We were absolutely delighted with the amount raised over the past two years and sincerely hope that past participants will join us once more.

“Our event combines light exercise in a wonderful setting, whilst giving children the opportunity to raise money for an excellent cause.

“Every penny of sponsorship goes towards the £275,000 needed each year to maintain our charity’s activities.”
