Crewe And Nantwich MP Edward Timpson To Run Marathon

1:04pm Tuesday 9th February 2010

CREWE and Nantwich MP Edward Timpson will be running the London Marathon again this year, raising money for charities in the area.

Last year Mr Timpson smashed his target of £2,000, managing to raise over £3,000 for projects in Crewe and Nantwich, in what was his seventh marathon.

He even managed to roll back the years by running his fastest time in a decade – 3 hours 58 minutes 36 seconds.

“The feeling that you’ve achieved something is one that never tires with age,” he said.

This year Mr Timpson has decided to raise money for two local charities – Home-Start Central Cheshire and Supported Community Business Special Needs.

Home-Start is voluntary organisation that has been giving key support to families in Crewe and Nantwich for over a decade.

Supported Community Business Special Needs runs a workshop based on Crewe Gates industrial estate, which encourages people with special needs to explore the world of work and business.

The MP has been a keen supporter of the two charities in the past and is a patron of both.

He added: “I have seen first-hand the great work done by these two charities in Crewe and Nantwich.

“They are a real asset for our area, and I am delighted to be raising money for them.

“I am extremely grateful to all the local people and businesses who sponsored me last year, and hopefully with your support again this year we can make a real difference to these two charities and all the people they help.”
