CHESHIRE Police are investigating an arson attack on a caravan in Crewe.
Early on Wednesday March 3 fire destroyed a caravan which was parked behind a house in Waine Street.
Two nearby garden sheds were also destroyed in the blaze.
The incident, which occurred a few minutes after midnight, is being treated as arson and a police investigation is under way.
Detective Bev Wilkinson said: “This was a serious fire and because of the possible danger from gas bottles some families were moved out of their homes for a few hours.
“The caravan was standing in the rear garden of a house and the garden is surrounded by a high fence.
"On the other side of the fence is a piece of open ground.
"It is possible someone crossed that ground to reach the fence and climb over.
“The open ground can be accessed from several different streets, including Coronation Street, Elm Drive, Ridgway Street and Charlesworth Street.
“Anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time the fire started or just before, should contact us.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who has any other information about this incident.
“You can contact me on the Cheshire Police Information Line 0845 458 0000.
"Anyone who wishes to leave information anonymously can call the Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.”
