Location Needed For Music Festival

ORGANISERS of the Volume Festival say the event's future hinges on finding the right location.

Over the past two years the event has brought thousands of music fans into Crewe’s bars and clubs.

The festival has seen top acts such as Ipso Facto and Sad Day For Puppets, performing alongside the cream of local talent including Sumo Kings, Sgt Wolfbanger and Troops of Mafeking.

Now the organisers, Cheshire-based promoters Volume, are looking to transform the festival into an outdoor summer event.

A spokesman said: “I think the last two years have provided the perfect platform for us to take it further.

“We want the festival to be a major annual event, eventually to rival some of the best regional festivals in the UK and that does mean changing the format.

“We are looking to pull together an outside event during the summer, headlined by top names, with ample opportunity for local artists.

“Although it has worked well in the town centre so far there is no real scope there for the event to evolve.

“We’re really grateful for all the support over the past two years.

“We’ve listened to all the positive feedback and people have said that it has lacked the atmosphere of a traditional outdoor festival.

“May was never going to work for an outdoor event, purely because of the great British weather, so we are looking further into the year.

“It all rests on getting the ideal location. We do have a couple of potential sites in mind, but want to make sure we get it right.

“We‘d like to hear from anyone who can suggest somewhere to accommodate it.”

The organisers are also keen to hear from businesses interested in sponsoring this year’s festival. Anyone who can help should contact festival@volumepr.co.uk or call Volume‘s new offices on 01270 625384.
