Crewe Pupils Visit Jaguar Car Plant

GIRLS from Crewe’s Sir William Stanier Community School got a taste of production engineering last week when they visited Jaguar Cars in Liverpool.

The pupils from years nine to 11, were given an inspirational presentation by the education staff and following a Health and Safety brief, got kitted out in high visibility vests and safety glasses for a guided tour of the plant.

The pupils also met one of the female engineers who spoke to them about her experiences working at Jaguar. The event was organised by Jaguar Land Rover Education Business Centre, staff from the school and Aimhigher Cheshire and Warrington.

Aimhigher’s Teresa Wong said: “This was a great experience for the pupils, which gave them the chance to see both engineering experts and the latest robotics technology at work. “We are confident that they now have a much deeper understanding and appreciation of the manufacturing industry and know that engineering is for girls too! “We would like to thank the Jaguar Cars staff for their invaluable contribution to this event.”
