Fatal Collision On The M6 Near To Sandbach

TWO pedestrians have been killed on the M6 near to Holmes Chapel this morning.

The motorway is currently closed in both directions between junction 17 at Sandbach and junction 18 at Holmes Chapel.

Police say the two men are believed to have died as a result of a collision with a lorry.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Drivers should if possible seek alternative routes and avoid the area around the motorway as traffic congestion is likely to be very heavy.

"Two men have died as a result of the collision with a Heavy Goods Vehicle.

"Both carriageways remain closed until further notice.

"The driver of the heavy goods vehicle is currently receiving medical attention in hospital."
