CHESHIRE East Council’s website has proved a hit with those who have a range of disabilities.
The site has been awarded the Shaw Trust Web Accreditation, whose high standards ensure that everybody has equal access to government information.
As part of the accreditation process the website was given a test run by disabled users and then adapted by the web team to suit.
They developed easy-to-use features such as subtitles, which will help people with impaired hearing, and special colour combinations to help those with colour blindness.
The Shaw Trust said the site had achieved a ‘high level’ of accessibility and was now inclusive and user friendly.
