CHAMPION equestrian Jessica Springsteen, daughter of legendary rock star Bruce Springsteen, will be flying the flag for the USA when she competes in a major international showjumping event near Nantwich in July.

The 19 year-old, a nationally ranked horsewoman at home in the USA , will compete against some of the most well-known names in the horse world at the Charles Stanley British Masters Showjumping event at SouthView Competition Centre at Wettenhall over the weekend of July 1 to 3.

Now speculation is mounting whether her mega-star father will come to see her perform as he did at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in May where Jessica came a respectable 6th in front of the Queen and Duchess of Cornwall.

Linda Wright, who owns and runs the permanent competition venue with her partner Charles Britton, said: “From what we hear, Bruce Springsteen is a doting dad and loves to travel the world watching his daughter compete, so you never know!

“What’s important to us, apart from Jessica being a big name, is to attract the younger riders and really promote showjumping as a sport to the younger generation.

“After having just a few weeks to organise such a big event, we’re thrilled at the interest from the general public buying tickets and the high-calibre of international riders who have confirmed they will be competing here in Wettenhall.”
