NANTWICH Town slipped to a disappointing defeat to hosts Mickleover Sports on the opening weekend of the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

Their injury woes from last season seemed to have stuck with them, as centre half JJ Bailey was forced from the field with a hamstring injury shortly before the hosts took the lead on 37 minutes.

The Derbyshire outfit were two ahead after the break, Liam Walshe finishing inside the box after lax defending from Jimmy Quinn’s side.

Dabbers were given hope by Matt Lowe’s 30-yard thunderbolt, but they were soon forgotten as Mickleover added a third from Karl Ashton to seal the victory.

Nantwich will hope a return to home soil will suit them better, when they host Bradford Park Avenue at the Weaver Stadium on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

They then travel to Chasetown on Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.

Town have been informed by Police that the league match at home to Chester FC on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29, will be subject to segregation measures.

The match is now an all ticket fixture, with all match tickets to be purchased prior to match day.

Admittance to the ground and Baker Wynne Wilson stand for Nantwich fans will be via turnstiles one and two (Town End).

Admittance to the ground for Chester fans will be via turnstiles three and four (Malbank End) and there will be no admittance to the Baker Wynne Wilson stand.

Nantwich fans will be able to buy tickets from the Club Shop, which has extended its opening hours from 11am to 2pm and 10am to 1pm on Saturdays.
