A college library is offering former students a huge incentive to return books by launching a fine-free campaign for a month.

The library at South Cheshire College is waiving all fines on any items which are returned late until February half term.

Scott Chesworth, new library manager, has introduced the initiative, which runs until Friday 10th February, in a bid to retrieve borrowed books.

Students who return any items outstanding between these dates will also receive a voucher which entitles them to a free hot drink and a slice of cake from the Reading Lounge Café which is based on the ground floor of the library.

The person whose item has been outstanding the longest will also receive an Amazon gift voucher to the value of the replacement costs of that item.

Scott said: “We want to give former students an incentive to return books which are overdue to us so they bring them back without having to face a fine.

“Former students still have books that they used to help them with their studies and revision over the summer and have overlooked returning them.

“Hopefully, the no fines policy for a month and also the added incentives will ensure that books come back to us so we can update our records.”
