CREWE residents are being asked if they would like to see the introduction of a town council.
Since August, townsfolk have been asked to consider whether they want a more local level of representation.
Early indications show there is significant support for a single town council but now a ballot paper is being formulated which will be sent out to households across the town.
The question, ‘Do you want a single town council for Crewe?’ will be sent to voters in February.
Clr Wesley Fitzgerald, leader of Cheshire East Council, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank respondents for their feedback so far.
“Early indications show that a town council is the preferred option, although there is still time to make your views known as the consultation remains open.
“I would strongly encourage people living in Crewe and those with an interest in the town to continue to make their views known and to vote.”
Cheshire East councillors are currently the only democratically-elected members who represent the views of people in Crewe.
Every other area in the borough, with the exception of Macclesfield, is represented through its own town or parish council.
