Man fined for attack on parking officer

A MAN has been sentenced after an attack on a parking enforcement officer in Crewe.

The officer, who does not want to be named, was knocked to the ground by a vehicle being driven by Diquyen Trinh.

The incident happened in August last year. The officer suffered a broken wrist and shoulder injuries.

Trinh, 39, was convicted of driving without due care and attention, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report it when he appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates Court on Thursday, February 9.

He received eight penalty points on his driving licence and was fined £1,590.

Clr Rod Menlove, cabinet member with responsibility for environmental services, said: “Attacks on members of Cheshire East Council staff are totally unacceptable.

“Verbal or physical abuse of those who are merely trying to carry out their duties for the council will not be tolerated.

“People who think it is acceptable to behave in such a manner should be under no illusion that we will contact the police and their actions will be dealt with as the law sees fit.

“All Cheshire East Council staff should be able to do their job in relative safety, without fear of this kind of behaviour from the public.”
