3:18pm Friday 30th March 2012

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a distraction burglary in Alsager on Monday.

A 90-year-old woman was sitting by her front door in Station Road, between 2pm and 4pm, when a woman approached her asking for a glass of water.

She told her not to get up before entering the house to get it herself.

When the woman left, the elderly victim noticed approximately £90 was missing.

The offender is described as white, in her 30s, about 5ft 3ins tall, with mousy brown hair possibly shoulder length, but possibly tied back.

She was wearing casual clothes.

Anyone with information should contact DC Kev Williams from the Crewe burglary unit on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 341 of March 27.
