HIGH school students are playing their part in highlighting the risks among younger children of talking to strangers.
Rachel Armstrong, Rebecca Latham, Georgina Costello and April Williams – all from Kings Grove High School in Crewe – are designing wristbands and ID cards in time for two events in the town in June.
Their ID cards will be required at the ‘OlymPicnic’ and the OnTrack event where they will be used to teach Year Four pupils to beware of strangers.
Youngsters will be tasked with checking ID badges belonging to adult volunteers from agencies such as the British Transport Police, Tesco and Virgin Rail.
Several will wear counterfeit badges, also designed by Kings Grove, to test the children’s observation skills.
Crewe business SG World will produce the cards and wristbands after they helped set the challenge for the students.
“Handling a real project, with a real outcome, from start to finish is a valuable experience for anyone starting out in the workforce, so we’re delighted to expand this opportunity for learning to these four highly-motivated students,” said Steve Floodgate, SG World Communications Director.
