Police release cycle theft CCTV images
7:00am Wednesday 27th June 2012 in News By Matthew Taylor
BRITISH Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with a bicycle theft.
The theft occurred sometime between 7am-6pm on Wednesday May 23 after the victim, a 54-year-old man from Crewe, left his bike locked at the cycle racks of Crewe station.
PC Mel Dodd said: “At some point during the day the thief stole the cycle, a silver Marrin Kentfield worth £450, but left the lock intact, attached to the rack.
“We believe the thief, after stealing the bike, boarded a train to Chester – so it is possible he has links to that area.
“I am now appealing to anyone with information about the theft, or who recognises the man pictured, to come forward.”
PC Dodd added: “Cycle theft is an issue on the railway across the country, and though it is not a prolific crime at Crewe, we are determined to deal with this offence quickly and deter others who may look to steal bikes – or any other property – from the railway.
Anyone with information should call police on 0800 40 50 40 quoting incident B3NWA of 26 June, or crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
