Have a Knockout with Leighton Hospital appeal

TEAMS are being sought for a charity It’s a Knockout competition in support of Leighton Hospital’s One in Eleven appeal.

The event, at Cumberland Sports Arena on July 28, will challenge teams of ten to tackle precarious fun-filled races and water games, to raise money for Leighton’s neonatal ward.

The event is being organised by veteran Haslington fundraiser Barry Donegan.

“It will be a lot of fun, with silly games and challenges. If we have about 12 teams enter we could raise a significant amount for the appeal,” said Barry, who has raised more than £280,000 for good causes in eighteen years.

Events will require teams make their way through giant cutlery and sauce bottles to create the perfect full English breakfast.

Elsewhere, the Bathing Belles contest will demand entrants collect items for a trip to the beach.

The One in Eleven Appeal aims to raise £1million to expand Leighton Hospital’s neonatal unit and enhance facilities, providing more space and comfort for families.

“We want to hear from people who are not afraid to get stuck in and look a bit silly, who can get a team together,” said Barry.

“This is a great opportunity for local businesses to submit a team; it would make a great team building day and they would also be showing their support for an important local charity,” he added.

It will cost £565 to enter a team, to cover costs and provide proceeds for the appeal.

The day will also feature stalls and family activities. Anyone who would like to book a stall, enter a team or find out more can call Barry on 07831345621or email barrydonegan@aol.com.

Around 3,000 babies are born at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust every year, and one in eleven need additional support – ranging from a few hours of special care to a few weeks in an intensive care unit.

The It’s a Knockout event will also support the Wingate Special Children's Trust in Wrenbury.
