Fly tipping prosecution

A BUSINESSMAN from Crewe has had to pay around £5,000 in combined fines and costs for his part in the fly tipping of furniture in the town.

Andrew Barker, of St Andrews Avenue, denied allowing his vehicle to be used for the depositing of controlled waste and failing to provide information to the local authority.

He was fined £2,385 and ordered to pay £2,614.08 in costs when he appeared at Crewe Magistrates.

Barker is managing director of A2B Deliveries, and on May 30, 2011, one of his employees, Mr Brian Fletcher, illegally dumped furniture on Birchall Walk.

Fletcher, who lives on Birchall Walk, pleaded guilty to fly tipping in January this year and was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £250 costs.

Cheshire East Council worked with Wulvern Housing to bring the prosecution.
