Mayor meets Corrie cook on steam train
MAYOR of Crewe, Margaret Martin, was among guests invited aboard the Scarborough Flyer train on Friday while filming took place for a new Channel 5 cookery programme.
The Great Northern Cookbook will see former Coronation Street actor Sean Wilson, aka Martin Platt, challenged to create a meal for seven dignitaries before they disembark at Scarborough.
The mayor joined the train at Crewe, enjoying a breakfast including bucks fizz before being joined at Brighouse by the Mayor of Scarborough, Helen Mallory, where Sean cooked lunch with Cheshire and Yorkshire produce.
The mayors reviewed Sean’s food before arriving at Scarborough, where Mrs Martin was allowed to fulfil an ambition and take to the footplate of a steam engine.
The TV programme will be aired in November on channel 5.
