Pudding club opens its doors to festival

A CHURCH will be serving up heavenly treats to mark the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival.

Keen cooks from Nantwich Methodist Church will be throwing open the doors to another popular Pudding Club over the weekend September 14-16.

Last year saw queues outside the doors onto Hospital Street as visitors lined up to indulge in four different desserts on a plate for £2.50.

Harvest festival celebrations have been moved to coincide with the festival and this year they will be on a Biblical theme, offering a ‘taste and see’ of foods from the Bible including honey, bread and olives.

There will also be a ‘drop and shop’ facility on Saturday, 10am-noon, offering parents a chance to leave their children in safe hands while they go shopping. A small charge of £1 is made.

Miniature train rides will once again be on offer free of charge to youngsters on the church frontage.

Methodist minister, Rev Malcolm Lorimer, said: “As a church in the centre of town we try to connect with all the major events.

“During the jazz festival we had music performances and for the food festival we go all out to tempt visitors through the door with desserts made by the very talented ladies of the church.”
