Funeral for Sandbach Strider John Lawton announced

THE funeral of Alsager marathon runner, John Lawton, will be held at 1pm at Bradwell Crematorium, Newcastle-under-Lyme on Monday, September 10.
The 63-year-old member of Sandbach Striders running club had been missing for four months after disappearing while competing in the Taygetos Challenge race in Greece.
His body was found by walkers in the Greek mountains last month.
John’s wife, Lynda, invited friends and colleagues to attend the service. After the funeral, there will be a celebration of John’s life at Crewe Hall.
Donations can be made to Cheshire Search and Rescue, who were heavily involved in the search for John.
A message from Lynda on the Facebook page set up to help find John, read: “Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past 5months.
“Your kind words and gestures have helped us to live through this nightmare and now I must face the future without the man I am proud to have been married to for almost 43 years, x.”
