STUDENTS at South Cheshire College went head-to-head with each other in a triathlon competition.

First and second year foundation degree students used different fitness machines in the college’s sports arena to complete their challenge in a relay format.

They simulated all aspects of the triathlon as if they were completing the challenge outdoors and were supported in their quest by Major John Miller from the Armed Forces careers office.

Major John Miller said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for young people to apply some of the key principles of the army such as fitness, teamwork and organisation.”

Coaching and sports development student Laura Jarman took part in the early morning stint of the triathlon.

Laura, 20, of Crewe, said: “It was great being involved in the competition and working as a team to complete the challenge.”

Fellow student Matt Sumnall helped to organise the competition.

Matt, 20, of Crewe said: “I helped to organise the event and I enjoyed doing it because it was something different and brought students from different years together.”
