SOUTH Cheshire College (SCC) is throwing its weight behind national Colleges Week by staging a series of action-packed activities at the heart of the community.
The college is delivering different events at Crewe’s Market Centre, which gives students the chance to showcase their skills and raise awareness of what the college can do.
Colleges Week runs from November 11 to 18 and is a national initiative that aims to highlight the vital role that colleges play in improving people’s chances of getting into work and helping businesses to grow.
Activities are being staged by students on different college courses, including live hair and beauty, performing arts, popular music and dance demonstrations.
Media students will also be working on the local Red Shift radio station during the week and construction students will be putting their skills to the test by taking part in a live project at a nearby church.
SCC principal Peter Swift said: “We want to show what the college is all about in the wider community and the events taking place in Crewe town centre give us the perfect opportunity to do that.”
SCC has supported Colleges Week in previous years.
Peter added: “It is important that we give people the opportunity to get into work, improve their chances of finding employment and help to maintain or improve skills which can boost their performance in the workplace.”
