Dismissal of an appeal for Millhouse

1:26pm Tuesday 15th April 2008

DISMISSAL OF AN APPEAL FOR MILLHOUSE.

I WAS approached by residents of Mill Bridge Close regarding this development. They had grave concerns regarding the impact on the area, wild life issues and possible damage to mature trees with preservation orders on them. After listening to the residents and examining the application, I had the same concerns. This development was approved by the planning officers. I lobbied members of the Development Committee, and they shared my views, by Close margin the committee refused the application.

The developers appealed against this decision, there was a public enquiry and the inspector dismissed the appeal. It does go to show that planners do get decisions wrong, and the people can put forward their concerns and they are listened to.

This planning application on this site is one of three, the first was for three homes and this was approved, the second was for a care home, this was refused by the planners. Most probably this piece of land will, in the future be developed. The application will have to be in keeping with the local area, with consideration to the mature trees and wild life. I am very happy for the residents that this appeal has been dismissed.

Cllr Eddie Ankers.
