I FEEL I must respond to the criticism I have received in your readers' letters page, surprisingly from a disgruntled failed Tory candidate who won't, thankfully, be standing in the local elections.
But yes he is right to complain about his own party's performance over major capital projects in the Borough and in particular Queens Park.
Well I must tell you that, because of the party political differences, it is the Labour Party who have supported the campaign to get work started on this project and have got people to sign petitions, put out press releases and readers' letters etc.
My involvement in the stakeholders' meeting, which I now chair, is how work started last year on the lake and was brought about by people power.
In 2006 the Tories were in charge of the Borough Council, well what did they do?
Put a halt to capital projects and nearly jeopardised the town centre development, did not consult on that one did they, nor cared about investment in Crewe!
Only the rural areas got the investment because that's what they promised their Tory friends they would do at the expense of Crewe.
But I digress because of the Save our Queens Park Campaign we now have got work to start to create a 21st Century Park set in the Victorian era.
Eric Wright the contractor carrying out the work will start on the of May 27, to start a 29 week construction programme to install Bridges and Lake edge works along with drainage and landscape works on the valley walk area and a separate contractor will be selected for work on the gates and railings shortly before or at the end of the 29 week programme of works.
So only the Labour Party can get things done in Crewe & Nantwich Borough.
Predictably the Tories only look after the money and not the people they are supposed to serve.
The Queens Park Stakeholders meeting is to be held on Thursday evening, April 24, at 7pm at Legends Club, Sunnybank Road, Crewe. Issues to discuss are tree felling, publicity and the positioning of the Lady Diana memorial.
