Pole clinch dominoes league’s Premier Division title

LONG-term leaders Hop Pole A claimed the Crewe Open League's Premier Dominoes Division title after all four of the league top teams won.

The result leaves Pole five clear of Flying Lady A, who finished as runners-up.

Division One's leaders Express took the title in style with a 7-1 win at Broughton Arms, with Kings Arms A pipping Nantwich Road A by a point thanks to their 6-2 defeat of Imperial.

Division Two's established leaders Bridge A beat Amalgamated Nomads 6-2 to finish nine points clear of Foresters Arms A, whose 5-3 victory over White Lion B left them runners-up and four points clear of Amalgamated B and White Lion A.

Division Three toppers Liberal Club beat Coppenhall Leighton 6-2 to take the title by five points from Flying Lady C, whose recent erratic form nearly cost them the runner-up berth as they clung on by the matches won parametre.

White Lion are champions of Division Four, their 5-3 win at Coach and Horses matching runners-up Waldron B’s score against Cumberland C.

Division Five leaders are Oddfellows Club, who overtook Swan and Chequers after they losing 5-3 to Rileys B.

Brunel C drew with their A team, but the last match meeting of Rileys B and Brunel C means numerous outcomes could still occur, though Swan miss out whatever the result turns out to be.

Nantwich Road B took the Division Six crown, despite drawing with Foresters B, while Brunel B ensured they would be runners-up by beating Hop Pole B 6-2.
