Crewe FC 1 Greenalls PSO 2
DEFEAT against a spirited Greenalls PSO meant Crewe FC swapped places with the victors to drop to seventh in the Cheshire Football Division One.
Goals from Danny Wilcock and Ben Slater secured all three points, helping PSo fight back from a goal down to win 2-1 at the Cumberland Arena.
Crewe flew out the blocks and took the lead after only three minutes.
Simon Everall latched on to a pass that looped over the defence and he kept his composure to round Craig Clare and tuck the ball home.
Greenalls couldn’t get the passing game flowing and could only manage half chances.
On the half hour mark came the game-changing moment, when Crewe FC were denied what appeared to be a stonewall penalty to move 2-0 and see their opponents reduced to 10 men.
PJ Hudson was bearing down on goal when Jon Shakeshaft brought him down, but the referee waved away the protests from the furious home side.
Four minutes later and Greenalls were level, Latham picking the ball up 30-metres from goal and sending Wilcock though, who slotted home into the bottom left corner.
The second half started with Shakeshaft involved again, Simon Everall showing a good turn of pace to make progress towards the Greenalls’ goal before the defender's last-ditch challenge prevented what looked a certain goal.
To level the playing field Greenalls had a stonewall penalty of their own denied early in the second half, Danny Topping hacked down by Crewe's number six as he went after a loose ball.
Slater and Mike Evans were brought on to try to change a game that had became dogged and sure enough Slater provided.
With seven minutes left Slater found himself on the right side side of the defence and though his first shot was saved by the goalkeeper he made no mistake second time around and completed the comeback for Greenalls.
