Ellington hopes to build on Crewe Alexandra debut

CREWE Alexandra’s new recruit Nathan Ellington will be hoping for his first taste of action after making the bench in last Saturday’s 2-1 win at Colchester.

The 31-year-old is looking to make an impact after signing a short-term deal and hopes to build on last week's appearance with another selection against Saturday's opposition Shrewsbury.

“It felt great to be a part of a squad again and to go away and get a win was the icing on the cake,” explained Ellington.

“There is nothing better than being a player who is involved on a match day . “I’m here to play and score as many goals as I can.

“I’ve been enjoying myself since I arrive and I want to be successful for myself and the team.

“I still feel I can do well and the manager feels that too.

“Everything seems to fit with this club and I’m happy to be a part of it.”

On-loan Chuks Aneke (knee) is also in contention, while midfielder Brad Inman has an outside shot of making the bench.

Crewe then entertain MK Dons on Tuesday.
