CREWE FC charged into the Crewe FA Cup Final with a 4-1 demolition of lower league Sandbach Town.

A double from temporary striker Simon Everall and a further brace from in-form Nathan Southern earned Crewe a meeting with fellow finalists Sandbach United at Cumberland Arena on May 11.

Crewe’s assistant manager Luke Goddard hopes that his side will take the form from this convincing victory into the Cheshire Football Division One fixture against Lostock on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

“A great result after a couple of frustrating games recently,” he said.

“We must now use this as a boost to return to winning ways in a must-win game against Lostock Gralam.

“Sadly we will be without leading strikers Carl Everall, Southern and Michael Blundell, so I may have be the one to lead the line considering our lack of options.”

CREWE benefited from Nantwich Town’s cancelled game, as the Premier Division side’s striker Simon Everall joined brother Carl in the starting line-up.

It was a move that proved fruitful for the visitors, who took the lead when Carl squared the ball for his brother to tap home.

Sandbach battled hard, but it was clear they were struggling to keep pace with the higher league opposition, who went further ahead after Everall and Southern were played through a static rearguard to lead 3-0 at the break.

Sandbach briefly entertained the chance of a comeback when they headed home, but Southern had other ideas.

Latching on to a long ball forward from Steve Parker, the Crewe striker spotted the Sandbach keeper off his line and looped a 25-year header into the net.

CREWE FC are appealing for old players, fans and staff, to take part in the Crewe FC Appreciation Night at Nantwich Town on Saturday, April 6, 7pm start.

Tickets are £10 with a free buffet, guest speakers and awards. Call Luke Goddard on 07817 256210 for more information.
