CREWE Judo Club impressed at the North West AA Judo Championships held in St Helens, winning three medals.

Fourteen-year-old twins Oliver and Christian Quinn, from Nantwich, were first on the podium after they both secured well-earned bronze medals in their debut competition, having only taken up the sport six months ago.

Ten-year-old Alannah Carr completed the hat-trick for the club with a silver medal thanks to some easy wins against the girls in her pool, including an ippon (maximum points available in a bout) win in less than 10 seconds. Alannah was overcome in her final contest but scooped a well-deserved second place finish.

Coach Chris Sharpe said: “I am delighted with the results from Alannah, Oliver and Christian.

“They work hard during training and are an inspiration to the others at the club. “We are all very proud of them at Crewe Judo Club.

At the same event, Sharpe qualified as a British Judo Association Area Referee, the latest accolade in a Judo career spanning 26 years.
