Boss Carl Everall confident Crewe FC squad can compete on all fronts
AS Crewe FC prepare for their first cup outing of the season, boss Carl Everall is confident he has the squad to compete on all fronts this campaign.
Crewe sit one point behind league-leading pair Knutsford and Garswood United after a three wins on the bounce, but turn their attention to the Division One Cup on Saturday and a trip to Greenalls PSO.
It is the first of back-to-back fixtures against Greenalls, who Crewe host in the league a week later, in a run of four games that also includes Moore United visiting the Cumberland Arena in the Cheshire Amateur Cup.
However, alongside the cup outings, Everall is keen for his players not to lose focus on their league goal.
“The next month will be vital,” said the player-manager.
“Distractions such as the league and Cheshire Cup will come into play, but we have a talented squad who no doubt will go about things the right way.
“We had a very tough start to the season, probably the most difficult out of any of the sides, but we've come through it with a good points tally and were still in the race.”
The boss is expecting to make changes for the cup fixture on Saturday with several players returning and a number of the Crewe FC reserve squad pushing for a first team place.
“Saturday’s fixture at Greenalls in the divisional cup will see a few changes in the side,” he explained.
“It is expected that Ant Tinsley, Steve Parker and Ben Burrows will return as well as several promotions form the uprising Crewe Reserve side.”
But, despite their recent run, Everall maintains his side must continue to work hard if they are to enjoy a successful season.
“We have to keep our feet on the ground and not get complacent,” he added.
“We know we have the squad capable of going on strong runs, as proved late last season and already this term.
“Hard work and positive attitudes are vital, the football will then take care of itself.”
