STUART Eastwood’s impressive haul of eight medals led Crewe Flyers’ charge at the Percy Mason Memorial Gala in Warrington.

Flyers sent 12 young swimmers and returned home with 17 medals in total, with Eastwood’s haul of two gold, two silver, four bronze, three top six finishes and a seventh-place overall finish the pick of the bunch.

He also earned a new personal best in the 100m freestyle, breaking the minute barrier for the first time.

Emma Duff was the best performing girl, winning two gold, one silver and two bronze medals, while teammate Georgia Prestwich won one silver and one bronze.

Other medals were won by Stuart Coutts, two bronze, while Joe Stather, four, Mike Eastwood, two, Jake Brassington, two, and Rachel Bradshaw, two, all collected top six finishes in their respective races.

Ben Woolley also impressed on his first visit to the new pool, though he went home without a medal around his neck.
