THE top two in the Crewe Open League’s Premier Dominoes Division, Kings Arms A and Nantwich Road A, enjoyed 5-3 victories at Pioneers Club A and Commercial to leave an unchanged position at the top.

Vine A recaptured third spot after a 5-3 win at West End LMR B, but they remain five points off the pace.

Division One’s teams took 3, 4 or 5 points in close matches.

Leaders Express doubled their points lead to two by beating Flying Lady A 5-3, while main challengers White Lion A let slip a 3-1 lead in their draw at Amalgamated A.

Hop Pole’s 5-3 defeat of Broughton Arms lifted them three places to third, with three teams separated on matches won two points behind them.

Division two toppers Pioneers Club B overturned a 3-0 deficit to win 5-3 at Sydney Arms and give them a four points lead over Woodside, who were beaten 6-2 by Bridge A.

Cheshire Cheese and Nomads are one point behind after their drawn clash.

Division Three has new leaders in the shape of Brunel Arms A after their 7-1 walloping of hosts Kings Arms B puts them one point ahead of Coppenhall Leighton, who drew at the Hawk.

For the second week running third-placed Liberal Club spurned winning positions by losing the pairs games to draw, this week against Oddfellows Club.

The current top four clash in the first week of 2014.

White Lion jumped to the top of Division Four after their 5-3 win at Dishers Club put them ahead of Coach and Horses, who were beaten 5-3 by visitors Waldron.

Swan and Chequers who beat Cumberland C 6-2.

Division Five toppers Brunel Arms B scrambled a draw at Willaston Club, but they remain in the lead as main challengers Duke of Bridgewater B’s bad night continued when then let slip a 4-0 lead in a draw with Foresters Arms B.

Third-placed Rileys Club B also drew with Prince of Wales A.
