Nantwich Town 4 Droylsden FC 0
NANTWICH may have cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over struggling Droylsden, but manager Danny Johnson was still unhappy with certain aspects of his side’s performance.
Despite being occasionally ‘sloppy all over’ according to their boss, Dabbers hit the front after just two minutes when Aaron Burns fired a powerful cross which in-form striker, Ben Deegan, flicked expertly past the Bloods’ Craig Dootson with his back to goal.
The visitors are sat rock-bottom in the Evo-Stik Premier Division with just two points to their name, but they still posed a threat to a Nantwich side not quite on their game.
Droylsden’s Domaine Rouse stung Jack Cudworth’s palms on 23 minutes to remind the Dabbers they were still in a game.
Denied a stonewall penalty earlier in the half, Nantwich doubled their lead when mecurial winger Max Harrop lit up a mediocre first half with a stunning left-footed strike from an acute angle on 45 minutes.
Star striker Aaron Burns made it three on 51 minutes, showing his pedigree when finding the corner from the edge of the Bloods’ box.
Nantwich substitute Steve Foster brought out the best in Dootson on 66 minutes with a looping header that the keeper tipped on to his crossbar, though he was not to be denied long.
Burns produced the miss of the season when fluffing an open-goal chance on 71 minutes, but Foster finally brought up Nantwich’s fourth with a placed header from a classy Burns cross on 84 minutes.
Nantwich Town: Jack Cudworth, Andrew Pearson, Andy White, Mark Jones, Earl Davis, Alex Frost (c), Harry Clayton, Oliver Devenney (Andrew Keogh 73), Ben Deegan (Steve Foster 66), Aaron Burns, Osebi Abadaki (Max Harrop 37). Subs: Sam Wilson, Dereece Gardner.
