Rotherham United 4 Crewe Alexandra 2
CREWE Alexandra twice gave up the lead against Rotherham United to slump to defeat in League One on Saturday.
AJ Leitch-Smith fired straight at the home stopper after collecting Chuks Aneke’s pass on eight minutes, but four minutes later his effort rebounded off the post into Bradden Inman’s path for a tap in.
The hosts levelled on 29 minutes from Kieran Agard, but the Railwaymen restored their lead on 61 minutes when Kelvin Mellow was allowed to spin in the area and fire home.
Crewe were ahead for only seven minutes as former loanee Tom Hitchcock was brought down in the box and Lee Frecklington stepped up to equalise for the hosts.
The Alex were awarded the chance to take the lead again when Leitch-Smith was brought down, but Harry Davis’ penalty was saved.
Alex Revell then headed Rotherham in front in the 74th minute, before Frecklington added his second late on.
