Crewe Alex Ladies u18s 9 Frodsham Juniors 1

CREWE Alexandra Ladies’ under 18s christened their new second kit in a resounding League Cup victory against Frodsham JFC.

Bought with help from Reaseheath College, Crewe’s ladies stepped out in their new kit and immediately went about making it a winning strip by taking the lead after just 11 minutes.

A fine strike from Becky Garner started their nine-goal romp, before going on to double her side’s lead six minutes later.

Conceding a goal against the run of play did nothing to halt the Crewe juggernaught, with Garner snatching her hat-trick goal on 38 minutes having forced the ball home from a goal kick.

Two quickfire goals early in the second half all but ended the game as a contest, with left wing back Alex Heron twice making use of her freedom up the flank to put Crewe four goals to the good.

A brace of goals created by the excellent Aimee Scragg’s corners followed, Garner adding her fourth with a near post header before Annie Timmis added one of her own.

Well-organised defending from Abbey Whittingham, Hannah Cunningham, Kate Evans and Alex Heron denied Frodsham any chances, while stand-in keeper Sophie Brooks saw very little action throughout the second half.

Becky Garner netted her fifth on 85 minutes, before Mary Turley wrapped up the scoring shortly afterwards when tapping in another lethal Scragg corner.
