CREWE Flyers took their biggest delegation in years to the North Midlands Championships and returned with an impressive 45 medals.

A record number of 550 swimmers took part in the gala, which pitted 15 teams from the South Cheshire and North Staffordshire area against each other.

The stars of the show were Grace Farr, who collected 13 medals including 10 golds, and Ben Cleaveley, who added 10 medals to help Crewe Flyers attain a sixth-placed finish.

Farr scooped six gold medals and attained four prizes for being the top swimmer in her age group, finishing first overall in the 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 200m freestyle and second in the 400m freestyle.

Cleaveley added two gold, one silver and two bronze medals in a performance that saw him win overall prizes in the 200m fly and 200m breaststoke.

Other medals were won by Scott Coutts, who also won 50m backstroke overall prize, Aaron Glover, Stuart Eastwood, four, Emma Duff, three, Ben Hinbest and Beth Moore.

Weekend two was equally successful, with Farr and Cleaveley back again to lead the medal count with six golds, three silvers and two bronze medals between them.

They also managed nine overall top three places between them.

Other medals were won by Ben Hinbest, three, Bethany Moore, two, Aaron Glover, three, Ryan Rimmer, Emma Duff and Stuart Eastwood to complete a resounding success.
