CREWE Alexandra sealed an important three points against relegation rivals Sheffield United at the Alexandra Stadium on Saturday.
The Railwaymen took a first half lead through Chuks Aneke’s double, before a late Byron Moore effort moved them three points clear of the League One drop zone.
Mathias Pogba nearly put the hosts ahead with an audacious effort that almost beat Blades stopper George Long.
But Arsenal loanee Aneke then took centre stage, bagging his first in the 37th minute as he sent a curling left-footed effort beyond Long to open the scoring.
Eight minutes later and Aneke doubled Crewe’s lead when United failed to clear Ajay Leitch-Smith’s free kick, hitting a volley which flew past Long for his eight of the season.
Long was equal to Brad Inman’s effort after the break, but the Blades keeper could only palm the Australian’s added time strike into Moore’s path for Crewe’s third.
