CREWE Flyers kicked off their Crusader League Division Two season with a large medal haul against opponents Dane Valley, Oakengates and recently promoted Knutsford.

Flyers took 34 swimmers, including seven debutants, to the venue at Cheslyn Hay and returned with 18 first place finishes and 20 second place finishes.

Gold medals were won by Grace Farr, three, Katie Holding, two, Issy Pountain, two, Zak Fielding, two, Bryony Crank, Jack Wilne and Georgia Farr.

The boys under 14 medley team of Zak Fielding, Joe Stather, Krystian Bukowski, Brendan Conway and Ben Hinbest came first in both there relay races, as did the under 14 girls’ team of Georgia Farr, Issy Pountain, Bryony Crank and Rebecca Stacchini.

The under 10 girls’ team of Annabelle Salisbury, Eleanor Finnegan, Katie Holding and Missy Haysom scooped gold in their Medley Race.

Crewe Flyers finished second overall, their points total of 242.5 falling short of newcomers Knutsford, who scored 254.5.
