STEVE Davis wants Crewe to show some consistency, starting with victory at Bradford this weekend.

Fresh from their best win of the season against Sheffield United last Saturday, the Alex boss has demanded his side follow that up in some style.

That means three points at Valley Parade before a tough clash against League One leaders Brentford and a fierce derby at Port Vale.

“We keep saying the confidence should be there from these sorts of victories,” explained Davis.

“We beat Preston with a great win, but didn’t go on.

“The problem is that we haven’t been able to sustain any results.

“Everyone at this stage of the season is taking about having a three or four game run because they know how important it is to their league position.

“Nine points and suddenly you’re four or five places up the table.

“Your season can go either way very quickly now.

“It’s tight where we are (19th) and Bradford are only four points in front of us so it’s important we build on last weekend.”

Davis believes George Evans can play a key role in Crewe’s League One survival bid.

The 19-year-old has extended his loan spell from Manchester City until the end of the season.

“He knows the way we play now and what we’re about,” added Davis.

“There’s more to come from George.

“He brings that quality of pass to our midfield that we’ve lacked since Luke Murphy went.

“He’s a great lad and his attitude is first class."

Watford loanee Uche Ikpeazu will have to wait for a start despite netting a penalty in the under 21’s win at Birmingham City.

Front man Mathias Pogba is likely to keep his place at Bradford along with defender John Guthrie who impressed against the Blades.

“Credit to Pogs, he kept himself going,” continued Davis.

“We worried because it was his first real blast of a game since his injury but he lasted the pace well.

“We will be careful with him because he’s going to be important for us.

“I thought John was steady throughout.

“He still has a bit to do and he’s been out in the cold for a while but he came in and did well.”
